The ten most common mistakes regarding the Italian cuisine abroad

1- The red and white tablecloths

For some strange reasons this kind of tablecloths are associated to our food. In Italy they disappeared together with the dinosaurs.

2- The Caesar salad

This salad is named after its alleged author, Cesare Cardini. It's a cult in the world and almost unknown in Italy

3- The "Feast of Seven Fishes"

In the United States, on Christmas Eve, there is the custom of "Italian dinner" with 7 courses of 7 different fishes, it is known only in the United States

4- The ketchup on the pasta

It's a shock!!! Don't do it in Italy, you could be arrested

5- The spaghetti Bolognese

Probably the world's most famous Italian recipe, but it is impossible to find in Bologna, The real Bolognese is made with tagliatelle, not spaghetti... and NO!!! They are not the same thing!!!

6- The pasta with chicken

Over popular in America, almost non-existent in Italy

7- The "Fettuccine Alfredo"

This is a must overseas, with cream, mushroom, chicken, cinnamon and whatever else is coming out of the chiller, when the tourist order it in the Roman restaurants, the waiters usually respond with "WHAT?!?!"

8- The spaghetti with meatballs

Another top notch Italian dish... AH AH AH AH AH AH AH!!! ...SI CERTO...

9- The risotto and pasta as a side dish

In many Italian restaurant abroad, pasta and risotto are served as a side with other main dishes. In Italy it would be considered as a sacrilege

10- The cappuccino after the meal

There is no doubt that the cappuccino (double p and double c) is one of the Italian prides in the world, but no one has ever seen an Italian sipping it after the meal

...and, of course,  many, many more...
